Over the past year, major artists such as the band Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Ed Sheeran have all backed the Music Venues Trust in its initiatives to support the industry, by adding a small levy to their ticket prices, which goes to help local stages.
Sam Fender also joined in, collecting over £100k on his recent tour to support numerous grassroots venues across Britain.
The donation helped venues that were facing possible closure due to issues stemming from floods, fire incidents and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and neighbor objections.
Some locations were granted monetary aid in improving infrastructure and gear that helped musicians and audiences.
"The concept that funds from concerts in big venues helps the local stages, where it begins for performers like me, is just common sense," Sam Fender has stated.

In the past week, the Music Venues Trust revealed it had protected several grassroots venues in that region, by transferring them to community ownership.
The first in the city and the second in Bristol were acquired under the public acquisition initiative, which is funded by Arts Council England and enthusiasts who acquire "ownership units" in the buildings.
